14 projects have beenselected for the Sundance Institute's annual June Directors and ScreenwritersLabs, set to take place in Utah from May 29-Jun 29.

The Labs give emergingfilmmakers the chance to work under the guidance of experienced mentors, whothis year include Atom Egoyan, Harold Ramis, Robert Redford, Antonia Bird,Caleb Deschanel, Keith Gordon, and Gary Winick.

This year's projectsselected for the June Directors Lab from May 29-Jun 24 are: A Breath Away from Kit Hui (US/China); Free In Deed from Jake Mahaffy (US); Kirsten Johnson's MyHabibi (US); Cary Fukunaga's SinNombre (US); The Strength Of Water from director Armagan Ballantyne and writer BriarGrace-Smith (New Zealand); So Yong Kim's Treeless Mountain (US/Korea); Uncloudy Day from co-writer and director Milford Thomas andco-writer Kristin Gorell (US); Victoria Mahoney's Yelling To The Sky (US); and Eran Merav's Zion And His Brother (Israel).

The June Screenwriters Labtakes place from Jun 24-29 and the participants are: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje'sFarming (UK/Nigeria); XiaoluGuo's Hay Fever (China/UK); SamehZoabi's James Dean And Me (Palestine/US);Blackhorse Lowe's The Left-Handed Path (US); and David Bezmozgis' Victoria Day (Canada).

"We have selected agroup of projects which explore the universality of human experience withhumour, grace, and authenticity," Sundance Institute's Feature FilmProgramme director Michelle Satter said.

"Depicting worlds asvaried as the US/Mexico border and a Maori village in rural New Zealand, theseprojects reflect the filmmakers' commitment to writing bold, timely, andpersonal stories."
