San Francisco-based distributor Anywhere Road has acquired all North American rights to Donal MacIntyre's hit Sundance 2007 documentary A Very British Gangster.

Anywhere Road president Robert Ogden Barnum plans a summer release for the edgy profile of Dominic Noonan, head of a celebrated Manchester family who balances a reputation as a hard-headed enforcer and champion of the community.

Strategic Film Partners principals Alex Barder and Lawrence Silverstein negotiated the deal with Barnum and will continue to consult with the distributor throughout the release.

'Gangster is a powerful, raw documentary that not only entertains, but is almost chilling in its realism,' Barnum said. 'We're thrilled to be a part of it.'

Red Envelope Entertainment holds US DVD and digital on demand rights.

Anywhere Road previously released the family drama Black Irish starring Brendan Gleeson and Melissa Leo.
