Ad Vitam has snapped up French rights to Un Certain Regard title Miss Lovely, directed by India’s Ashim Ahluwalia, from Fortissimo Films.

The deal was negotiated by Fortissimo’s executive vice president of sales and acquisitions Nicole Mackey with Alexandra Henochsberg and Gregory Gajos of Ad Vitam.

The film, which premieres in Un Certain Regard on Thursday (May 24), revolves around two brothers working in Mumbai’s sleazy C-grade film industry, and the seemingly innocent actress they encounter.

Ahluwalia, whose credits include award-winning documentary John & Jane, produced the film under his Future East banner along with Shumona Goel, Sanjay Shah and Pinaki Chatterjee. Shot by renowned cinematographer Mohanan (Don), the film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Kahaani), Niharika Singh (former Miss India) and Anil George.

Ad Vitam’s recent releases include Jeff Nichols’ Take Shelter and Benoit Jacquot’s Farewell My Queen.
