Gary Hamilton's ambitious Arclight Films has announced Adrien Brody as the lead in thriller The Courier based on a script by red hot writers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas.

Arclight sales chief Pascal Borno will commence worldwide sales at AFM next week on the story of a daredevil carrier who is pursued by corrupt police and feuding crime lords as he tries to deliver a briefcase to an elusive underworld figure.

Principal photography is scheduled to commence in locations in Louisiana and Las Vegas in January 2009. Russell Mulcahy will direct and Hamilton is producing with Dan Grodnick, Tucker Tooley, Vincent Newman and Arclight's new head of production Mike Gabrawy. Brody serves as executive producer with Cary Brokaw and Al Munteanu.

'The script trail blazes a chase across country in pursuit of the most wanted man in the land, and it has all the twists and turns that you would expect from this writing team,' Hamilton said.

'It's the ideal character for Adrien Brody, who we believe is one of the foremost movie actors in the business and a huge attraction for audiences everywhere.'

Brody recently starred in Rian Johnson's caper The Brothers Bloom and The Darjeeling Limited and he won the Oscar in 2003 for Roman Polanski's The Pianist.

Brandt and Haas previously collaborated on the summer hit Wanted, as well as 3.10 To Yuma and 2 Fast 2 Furious.
