The pair will now go into production on their first feature, The Bogman King.

Irish film-makers Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman have won the Untitled Screenwriting competition for their feature project The Bogman King, as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF).

Sponsored by the Irish Film Board, the award carries a prize of $22,421 (Euros 16,000).

The pair, who beat off 350 applicants, were presented with the award at the closing night of the Dublin Film Festival.

The selection committee included comedy agent Caroline Chignell, Irish film director Paddy Breathnach and JDIFF director Grainne Humphreys.

The four runners up were: Accidental Death & Dismemberment by Rob Cawley; Brave New Movie by Gavin Burke; Found by Ailbhe Keogan and Michael Kelly and The Good Kind by Mark Cantan who will all receive season passes to next year’s film festival.
