congratulations to The Kings Speech. goes to show you that a film made for 4.5 million pounds is better than the Hollywood blockbuster costing much more.

Film Festivals don;t need mainstream Hollywood studio films like True Grit Or Unknown. Unfortunately many festivals (especially Toronto) have decided that they are only successful if they can attract A list stars and the publicity they bring. Film festivals are about art=not box office gross. if actors want to validate themselves as actors then they should do art films even if the fees are not great. I'm sure the stars of The Kings Speech must have worked at scale-but they are now reaping the rewards- awards and some good back end profit participation.

bad idea. the formula should be built not around the domestic gross but the world gross.
