Paris and Hong Kong-based sales company All Rights Entertainment has picked up international rights excluding India to Manjeet Singh’s Mumbai Cha Raja.
The independent Indian film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, and also screened at the Abu Dhabi and Mumbai film festivals. It picked up the Special Jury Award in the inaugural India Gold competition at the Mumbai festival.
Featuring non-professional actors, the film follows a young boy as he roams the streets of Mumbai, playing pranks with his balloon-seller friend, while back at home he has to deal with an abusive father. Critics applauded the film for its photography and realistic style.
All Rights is also handling Indian children’s film Gattu, directed by Rajan Khosa, which has sold to Korea (Ava), Taiwan (Shengchi Media), Malaysia (World Hub) and Spain (Vernes Films).
All Rights also recently picked up international rights to $23m Chinese animation Dragon Nest, based on a Shanda Interactive game with 120 million players worldwide. Mili Pictures is producing the film which is scheduled for delivery next year.
