The Almodovarbrothers' El Deseo has bought into Spanish DVDdistributor Cameo Media and will pump the bulk of its catalogue and newproductions through the company, including Pedro Almodovar'supcoming feature Volver.

Funding a capital increase, El Deseo joins Alta Films, Wanda Vision, TornasolFilms, Continental Producciones, Golem and Cameomanaging director Juan Carlos Tous as an equalpartner in the two year-old distributor.

Cameo gets rights to all of Pedro'sfilms, although a handful of titles are pending turnover from current rightsholders. It also takes El Deseo co-productions suchas Lucrecia Martel's The Holy Girl (La Nina Santa) and Andres Wood's Loco Fever (La Fiebre DelLoco).

The company has plans to releasefour collector's edition DVDs per year of Pedro's films, offering new footageand commentaries. First out prior to Christmas will be Bad Education (La Mala Educacion).

"Pedro's works will open doors forCameo both inside Spainand internationally," says Tous, pointing to thecompany's impressive catalogue of independent and auteur films. Cameo's plansinclude the launch of a Madrid-based division to broker rights for alternativeformats like video-on-demand and mobile phones.

Volver begins shooting in Spain on July18 with stars Penelope Cruz and Carmen Maura.
