Mark Lester's Los Angles-based American World Pictures (AWP) has struck a deal to sell foreign rights to African-American-owned studio Codeblack Entertainment's slate at Cannes.

The eight-strong Codeblack roster includes The Hit starring Blair Underwood and James Russo, I Tried starring Bone Thugs and Harmony, Flip The Script starring Robin Givens, and Premium starring Hill Harper and Zoe Saldana.

The roster continues with Jamie Foxx Presents America's Funniest Comics V.1, 4 Life starring Wood Harris from HBO TV drama The Wire and Elise Neal, Confessions Of A Call Girl starring Lynn Whitfield, and A Good Man Is Hard To Find starring Stomp the Yard's Darrin Dewitt Henson.

'Through our partnership with American World Pictures, we are now able to take our international business to a new level while simultaneously creating a broader distribution capability for all products and partners,' Codeblack Entertainment's executive vice president and general manager Quincy Newell said.

Codeblack Entertainment's recent DVD releases included Shadowboxer and Preaching To The Choir.

The deal was negotiated by AWP's president of international distribution and productions Martin Barab.
