The executive most recently served as svp of international sales at FilmNation and has worked on such films as The King’s Speech, Sanctum, The Road and Rian Johnson’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Looper.

Bobby Paunescu, former Comerica Entertainment group manager Jared Underwood, producer Kearie Peak and business affairs and acquisitions expert Christopher Taylor launched Solar last month.

Paunescu and Underwood are principal investors and serve as managing directors while Peak and Taylor are co-CEOs with Peak overseeing production and Taylor overseeing business and corporate affairs. Edward Lawson Johnston, founder of the London-based merchant bank LJ Group, is also an investor.

The company aims to finance and produce four to five commercial films each year for the international market. Titles will range from small features to mid-size action films with budgets rising to $30m.

Prior to FilmNation Beecroft was president of international distribution at GreeneStreet Films and she has also served as director of international theatrical distribution at HBO Films, vp of international theatrical distribution at First Look Studios and vp of international sales at Cinemavault Releasing.
