Ang Lee's next film will be the true story Taking Woodstock, based on events surrounding the legendary 1969 music festival. As always with Lee's films, it is being produced at Focus Features.

The comedy will follow Tiber, a Greenwich Village interior designer, as he steps in at the eleventh hour to save the Woodstock concert after a permit refusal.

Focus CEO James Schamus is adapting the screenplay from Elliot Tiber's memoir Taking Woodstock: A True Story Of A Riot, A Concert, And A Life which hewrotewith Tom Monte.

'Elliot's exuberant and heartfelt story is a perfect window onto the Woodstock experience, exploring an inspiring historical moment when liberation and freedom were in the air,' Schamus said.

Lee most recently collaborated with Focus on the Chinese espionage thriller Lust, Caution.
