UK distributor Artificial Eye has announced a number of acquisitions from Cannes.

The company has the UK rights to Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Climates (Iklimler) and Paulo Sorrentino'sThe Friend OfThe Family (L'Amico Di Famiglia), which both played in competition. Climateswon the FIPRESCI prize.

As announced before Cannes, Artificial Eye is also working with Aki Kaurismaki's competition title Lights In The Dusk (LaitakaupunginValot).

From Un Certain Regard,Artificial Eye acquired rights to Denis Dercourt's The Page Turner (La TourneuseDe Pages).

Out of competition, thedistributor bought Abderrahmane Sissako's Bamako (The Court).

Sales companies representingthe films were Pyramide for Climates, Wild Bunch for TheFriend Of The Family, The Finnish Film Foundationfor Lights In The Dusk, Films Distribution for The Page Turner, and Films Du Losange for Bamako. FILMS DU LOSANGE

No release dates have beenset for any of the titles.

As reported before Cannes, venerable arthousedistributor Artificial Eye has been acquired by Act Entertainment Group, ownerof Curzon Cinemas, and KnatchbullCommunications Group.
