Two very different Korean openers hit the international chart this week: Ra Hee-chan's comedy Going By The Book, and Kim Mi-jung's historical murder mystery Shadows In The Palace. Going By The Book is a broad comedy about a traffic cop and a bank robbery gone wrong, while Shadows In The Palace is an action film set in a closed, hierarchical society of women, that played well at last month's San Sebastian film festival. Greece's El Greco had the highest screen average in the international market this weekend, with local audiences flocking to Yannis Smaragdis' biopic of the 15th century painter. Meanwhile, Juan Antonio Bayona's horror The Orphanage scared up the second highest screen average in the international market on its second week on release in Spain. The film is Spain's Oscar entry for this year.
