Producer Edouard Weil isbusy preparing new projects following his latest collaboration with OlivierAssayas on Cannes competition film Clean.

Xavier Giannoli's lovetriangle drama La Belle Image stars hot French up and comer LudivineSagnier, Nicolas Duvauchelle and Bruno Todeschini and is set to start shootingon June 7 in Paris and Brussels. The French-Belgian co-production is beingco-produced through Rectangle Films, a partnership between Weil, Jean Coulonand Giannoli. Weil will produce.

Weil told Screen that theEuros 4m film will be also be co-produced by France's Roissy Films andBelgium's Michel de Wouteras. Sold by StudioCanal (except in Italy where Weilis looking to make a sale himself), La Belle Image has financial backingfrom Canal Plus, French cable network Cine Cinemas and the Ile de Franceregion. The UK's Momentum has pre-bought the film.

A second project fromRectangle is Valerie Lemercie's Palais Royal which is slated for anAugust start date. The Euros 14m comedy is set in the world of Europeanaristocracy and stars Catherine Deneuve, Michel Aumont, Mathilde Seigner andRoschdy Zem.

Film is a co-production withUK outfit Haystack with financier Matrix handling a sale and leaseback.

Finally, Pola Xdirector Leos Carax marks his return with an English-language film entitled Scars.Film is an unusual love story replete with a trek across America, musicalcomedy and "packed with visual fantasies," according to Wild Bunch chiefVincent Maraval who is co-producing and selling the film. Casting is underwaywith a big name actresses along the lines of Uma Thurman or Mila Jovovich beingsought for the Euros 13m film.

Weil also produced Demonloverwhich Assays brought to Cannes in 2002.
