UIP's Intolerable Cruelty held on to the top spot in its second weekend and BVI's Kill Bill Volume 1, which has been on screens for three weekends, clawed its way back up to second position. That meant displacing Roadshow's Freddy vs Jason, which actually dropped two places to fourth position after failing to also stand up to 20th Century Fox's opener Runaway Jury. Rounding out the weekend's leading five films was BVI's feel-good Calendar Girls.

Another opener, Columbia TriStar's The Medallion put in a solid performance, taking nearly A$414,00 from 77 screens to record a screen average of A$5,374 which, ignoring the only IMAX film in the chart, was second only to Intolerable Cruelty. The Runaway Jury took nearly A$900,000 from 196 screens, giving it the third biggest screen average of A$4,579.

The two other openers in the chart, BVI's Holes and Laurel Canyon from Palace, ended up in tenth and nineteenth positions respectively.
