Eleven live-action shorts advance in Oscar race

A tie in the nominations balloting resulted in 11 films being shortlisted. One hundred and twenty-five pictures originally qualified in the category. 

The films are listed below in alphabetical order by title:

9meter;
A Fábrica
(The Factory);
Asad;
Buzkashi Boys;
Curfew;
Death Of A Shadow
(Dood Van Een Schaduw);
Henry;
Kiruna-Kigali;
The Night Shift Belongs To The Stars;
Salar; and
When You Find Me.


The short films and feature animation branch reviewing committee viewed all the eligible entries for the preliminary round of voting at screenings held in Los Angeles.  

These Academy members will now select three to five nominees. Branch screenings will take place in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco in December.

The nominations will be revealed on Jan 10 ahead of the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Feb 24 in Hollywood.
