More Foreign Language Oscar contenders have been announced, including Rolando Colla’s Summer Games (Giochi d’estate) representing Switzerland.

The film had its world premiere in Venice, and is about a boy who comes of age as his parents try to save their marriage one summer.

From Mexico, Gerardo Naranjo’s Cannes Un Certain Regard and Toronto selection Miss Bala has been put forward. That story is set in modern Mexico, where beauty pageants collide with the drug underworld.

Israel has selected Joseph Cedar’s Footnote, which was the top winner at the local Ophir Awards this weekend. Sony Pictures Classics is handling the US release. That film was also in Cannes where it won the best screenplay prize.

And Peru has selected October (Octubre), the Cannes 2010 Un Certain Regard selection that is the debut feature from Daniel and Diego Vega.
