Wong Kar Wai presents Chang Yung Chi’s debut feature; Fortissimo handles sales.

Chang Yung Chi’s debut feature Touch Of The Light has been selected as the Taiwanese entry for the Foreign Language Oscar race.

Wong Kar Wai presents the film, which is a Jet Tone production. Fortissimo Films is handling international sales.

The story is based on the life of Taiwanese piano prodigy Yu Hsiang (who plays himself), who was born blind in rural Taiwan and meets a frustrated dancer (Sandrinne Pinna) when he goes to university. It is described as “a story of dreams, determination, love and believing in yourself.” The cast also features Huang Yu-Siang, Lee Lieh and Sheu Fang-Yi.

Wong Kar Wai said: “As the presenter of this film, I am very honored to have had the opportunity to work with and observe the inspired group of cinephiles and  dreamers who pursued their  goal, to bring  Touch Of The Light to fruition.”

Producers are Jacky Pang Yee Wah and Chang Hong-Tat with Chan Ye Cheng and Song Dai serving as executive producers and Rachel Chen Po-Hsu, Ren Yue and Stephen Lam as associate producers.

Warner Bros releases in Taiwan and the film will screen in Busan.
