European Film Awards to take place on Dec 1 in Malta.

Michael Lennox’s Back of Beyond (UK) and Darren Thornton’s Two Hearts (Ireland) are among the nominees in the running for the European Film Academy’s (EFA) short film award.

The short films initiative is organised by the EFA in conjunction with a number of film festivals across Europe, with an independent jury presenting one of the films with a short film category nomination at each festival. Back of Beyond was nominated at Locarno, while Two Hearts was picked at Cork.

Other films competing for the award are: Demain, Ca Sera Bien (France), Superman, Spiderman Sau Batman (Romania), Miten Marjoja Poimitaan (Finland), L’Ambassadeur Et Moi (Switzerland), Im Freien (Austria), Vilaine Fille Mauvais Garcon (France), Csicska (Hungary), Villa Antropoff (Latvia/Estonia), Sessiz/Be Deng (Turkey), Manha De Santo Antonio (Portugal), Titloi Telous (Greece) and Einspruch VI (Switzerland).

The films nominated will be presented to over 2,700 EFA members who will elect a winner, which will be announced at the 25th European Film Awards Ceremony taking place on Dec 1 in Malta.
