The VES Awards recognise outstanding achievement in visual effects in twenty-four categories of film, animation, TV, commercials and games.

Ang Lee’s Life of Pi and Disney/Pixar’s Brave were the big winners at the 11th annual Visual Effects Society (VES) awards event, which took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA.

The VES Awards recognise outstanding achievement in visual effects in twenty-four categories of film, animation, TV, commercials and games.

VES chair Jeffrey A. Okun commented: “Over eleven years, our awards show has developed into a truly special event. Each year, we put a spotlight on artists’ achievements in visual effects that today more than ever define the experience of going to the cinema. We thank everyone who came together tonight to honour the artistry of all of our winners and nominees.”

Special awards were given to Lee, who was presented with the VES visionary award by producer Dennis Muren, and to Richard Edlund who received the lifetime achievement award from Harrison Ford.

Game of Thrones was the most honoured TV project.
