The star of Saving Mr Banks will receive the Modern Master Award at the 29th Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) on February 8 2014.

The Modern Master Award is the highest honour bestowed by the festival. Since its inception in 1995 recipients have included Christopher Nolan, Michael Douglas Anthony Hopkins, Ben Affleck, Clint Eastwood and James Cameron.

SBIFF is set to run from January 30–February 9 2014
