Screen International is launching a new awards season film screening series in London, kicking off with events in partnership with The Weinstein Company.

Screen is introducing the series to showcase awards-worthy titles and talent to key awards voters and industry tastemakers in London. The series is expected to continue through February 2014

The invitation-only screening series will kick off with Ryan Coogler’s Sundance hit Fruitvale Station screening on Oct 15  at London’s Soho Hotel.

Fruitvale Station is Coogler’s feature debut, inspired by the true story of Oscar Grant, a young man in the San Francisco Bay area killed by transport police. Michael B Jordan leads the cast.

“The awards season is always very important to Screen and we think this screening series will benefit both our commercial partners and our readers in showcasing some of the best films of the year,” said Screen International editor Wendy Mitchell.

“We look forward to introducing a targeted, influential London audience to some excellent films.”
