Bad Boys II was the number one international film at the weekendas it grossed $16.2m from 4,640 screens in 55 markets and raised itsinternational running total to $85.2m.

Columbia TriStar FilmDistributors International (CTFDI) confirmed its action sequel opened top inFrance on $3.9m from 700 screens, effectively overruling Universal'sclaim yesterday based on estimated figures that American Pie: The Wedding had secured the top spot.

Bad Boys II is expected to play well in France as the countrygoes into the 12-day school holidays this week.

The film also opened numberone in Russia on $1.3m from 200 (including previews) for the fifth biggestdebut of the year there.

Portugal opened top on$400,000 from 90 for the 19th biggest industry bow of all time, includingpreviews.

Bad Boys II opened in Italy on $1.5m from 332 for an unconfirmedranking and held on to its number one positions in its second weeks in Germany,Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Holland.

The police action thriller S.W.A.T. added $2.8m at the weekend for a $25.1m cumulativescore.

The highlights were a verygood number one bow in Indonesia on $175,000 and number two in Mexico on $1m.
