Cologne-based production house Tradewind Pictures has entered into a "first look" style agreement with world sales agent Bavaria Film International (BFI).

Bavaria has picked up two of Tradewind's current international co-productions - Fridrik Thor Fridriksson's Niceland and Peter Timm's Mein Bruder Ist Ein Hund - for international sales.

The Euros 2.5m Niceland, which was produced by Tradewind with Iceland's ZikZak Filmworks, the UK's F.&.M.E. and Denmark's Nimbus Film, wrapped on September 7 after shooting in Iceland and on location in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), while Timm's Euros 4.5m family film commences principal photography on September 30 in the UK before moving to Thuringia and NRW. Public broadcaster WDR, F.&.M.E and Dutch children's film specialist Bos Bros are co-producing, with Solo-Flim lined up to release the film in German and Warner Bros. in Dutch cinemas.

Meanwhile, Tradewind also served this summer as the German partner on Amsterdam-based Egmond Film's family entertainment film Eric In The Land Of Insects based on the Godfried Bomans' novel Eric Of Het Klein Insectenboek.

Directed by Gidi van Liempd, the Euros 4.6m fantasy production - which will also include a six-part TV series - will be released by UIP in the Netherlands and by Atlas Intermedia in Germany
