London and Sydney-basedBecker International has acquired foreign rights from Sidetrack Films to AJSchnack's documentary Kurt Cobain About A Son.

Becker has been introducingthe picture to buyers here at AFM in tandem with its US premiere at AFI FEST.Dendy Films has taken Australian and New Zealand rights.

Produced by Brooklyn-basedproduction and financing outfit Sidetrack Films, Kurt Cobain About A Son recently received its world premiere at the TorontoInternational Film Festival.

The documentary presents anintimate portrait of the late rock star cut together from previouslyunpublicised conversations between Cobain and rock journalist Michael Azerradfor his book "Come As You Are: The Story Of Nirvana".

The soundtrack featuresmusic that influenced Cobain such as REM, David Bowie and Queen as well asseminal Seattle bands such as Mudhoney and The Melvins.

"Becker understood theproject immediately, and their ideas for reaching a global audience of bothNirvana fans and filmgoers interested in new approaches to nonfiction cinemahave been right on target," Schnack said.

Becker's AFM slate includes Control, Anton Corbijn's biopic of Joy Division frontman IanCurtis that is currently in post-production and stars Samantha Morton.

The deal was negotiated bySidetrack partner Jared Moshe and attorney Stephen Saltzman from Loeb &Loeb with Becker's Iain Canning and Jonathan Page.
