In a surprise win, Turkish/German director Fatih Akin's Head On received the Golden Bear at Saturday night's Berlinale awards ceremony - the first German film to win in Berlin since 1986.
Other surprises included the shared best actress award, which along with favourite Charlize Theron for Monster honoured newcomer Catalina Sandino Moreno, for her role in Joshua Marston's Maria Full Of Grace.
