Scott Bernstein has been promoted to senior vice president of production at Universal Pictures, effective immediately.

Since Bernstein joined the studio in 2004 he has overseen such projects as last summer's hit The Break-Up and Accepted. He is currently supervising Hellboy 2, which recently began production in Hungary

Bergstein previously served at Revolution Studios, where he worked with Guillermo del Toro on Hellboy. At Universal, he is also overseeing Big Brothers starring Paul Rudd and Sean William Scott for Stuber/Parent, and Death Race, which stars Jason Statham and is being produced by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner.

'Scott is a terrific executive who has great instincts for developing a broad variety of projects,' Universal's president of production Donna Langley said.

'We are solidifying a great team of production executives at Universal, and Scott has made major contributions to our success. I'm very pleased to recognise him with this promotion.'

Prior to Revolution Studios, Bernstein was vice president of production and development at Lions Gate Films, and before that served in the same capacity at Ignite Entertainment.
