BFI Transition Fund to support further 22 projects

A further 22 UK projects are to receive funding through the BFI’s Transition Fund for Audience Development, including the Independent Cinema Office, Power to the Pixel cross media forum and youg film-makers network Cineclub.

The Transition Fund for Audience Development was set up by the BFI to support the industry in the wake of significant cuts to the UK film landscape announced by the government last year.

In July the BFI announced a first round of funding with 37 projects being awarded a total of £888,000. This second round of funding takes the total number of projects to 59, with the 22 further projects set to receive funding totalling £371,000.

The biggest recipient is the Independent Cinema Office, a national organsiation supporting independent film exhibition in the UK, which will receive £106,650.

The projects all “demonstrated that their funding for core activities has been significantly reduced or withdrawn for the financial year 2011-12,” according to the BFI.

The 22 projects which have received funding in the second slate of awards are:
