Black Book (Zwartboek) was the big winner as The Dutch Cinema Awards, theGolden Calves, were presented during the Dutch Film Gala at the close of the 26thNetherlands Film Festival.

Black Bookwon best feature film, Paul Verhoeven won best director while Carice van Houtenwon best actress.

The jury said of Verhoeven:"The Dutch cinema can be proud of having a master in its ranks who, with histechnical abilities, has made a world-class film in the Netherlands. He leaves the spectator knocked-out."

The film is representing TheNetherlands in the foreign-language Oscar category.

The Golden Calf for theTiscali Audience Award, with a prize of $31,522 (Euros 25,000) for onlinemarketing, went to Bonkers by MartinKoolhoven.

Heddy Honigmann's Forever won bestdocumentary and the Dutch film critics award.

Other winners included bestactor to Night Run's Frank Lammers, bestscript to Alex van Warmerdam for Waiter,and a special jury award to Mercedes Stalenhoef's I Never Want To Be Famous.

The Golden Calves juryincluded Esther Bannenberg, Jan van den Berg, Jacqueline de Goeij, Rolf Koot,Esme Lammers, Erik Langhout and Wouter Suyderhoud.

The Netherlands FilmFestival this year attracted 118,000 visitors.
