Pretty Pictures has acquired French rights from T&C International to Scott Sanders' Sundance hit blaxploitation homage Black Dynamite starring Michael Jai White.

Pretty Pictures president James Velaise negotiated the deal with Los
Angeles-based T&C International chief David Jourdan following meetings
at the EFM last month.

Jourdan also reported he had closed a deal with Svensk Film for
Scandinavian rights. He did not screen the picture in Berlin and is
preparing the market premiere screening for Cannes.

'We are immensely excited to have acquired this truly hilarious
one-of-a-kind movie, following the film's rapturous Sundance
premiere,' Velaise said.

'Seriously funny 'piss take' films which respect the true genre of the
originals are such a rarity. We will release the film across France in
the fall having built up the appropriate buzz beforehand.'

Sony Pictures acquired North American rights at Sundance in a deal
reported to be worth around $2m.
