New New York-based production outfit Blue Magic Pictures, which was formed at the beginning of the year by Lemore Syvan, has unveiled five new films including the next project from director Rebecca Miller and a co-production with Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson's Cosmic Entertainment.

Syvan is partnered with senior vice president of production Melissa Marr and chief financial officer Gus Samios in the company which had previously announced its involvement in John Sayles' new film Casa De Los Babys which is set to start shooting in Aug and a film of Warren Leight's award-winning play Side Man to be directed by Leight himself.

The new films are Miller's Rose And The Snake, the story of a single father and his daughter living in an abandoned commune and both preparing for the father's death; Leo Spivak, written and to be directed by actor Peter Riegert, which will star Riegert himself in a comedy about a middle aged salesman dealing with a string of crises; Air And Fire, which will be produced with Cosmic, is to be directed by Alejandro Springall (Santitos) and tells the story of a French architect who comes to turn-of-the-century Mexico to build a metal church; Duane Hopwood which is written and will be directed by actor Matt Mulhern is a drama set in Atlantic City about a casino pit boss struggling with alcoholism; and Markers, which is based on the novel by columnist Sidney Zion about big business and the rules of the game in New York City.
