Veteran director Jose Luis Borau is the recipient of Spain's prestigious National Film Prize, the Ministry of Culture's Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual Arts announced.

Among the feature films on his lengthy filmography as writer-director are 2000's Leo, 1986's My Dear Nanny (Tata Mia) and 1975 San Sebastian Golden Shell winner Furtivos.

Borau, who has his own production company in Madrid, El Iman, was previously president of the Spanish Cinema Academy.
