Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the overwhelming favourite to usurp DreamWorks’ Need For Speed this weekend as it prepares to launch in around 33 markets through Disney.

The film, which stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel Jackson, Anthony Mackie and Robert Redford, arrives in the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

The first wave includes Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Argentina and Venezuela. Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens in North America on April 4.

Need For Speed has amassed more than $100m through Disney and Mister Smith markets.

Latest figures put Frozen on $661.1m, while Muppets Most Wanted on $2.1m opens in the UK this weekend.

Paramount and Regency Enterprises’ Noah arrived in Australia on an estimated $750,000 on March 27 and has reached $18.5m from its first three markets.

Darren Aronofsky’s Biblical epic starring Russell Crowe has generated $10m in South Korea after 10 days and $7.5m in Mexico after six.

Noah opens this weekend in Russia among 18 other markets as well as North America.

300: Rise of An Empire has reached $202.7m through Warner Bros Pictures International, while The Lego Movie stands at $149.3m, Gravity $442.3m and The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug $691m.

Fox International opens The Monuments Men in China and The Book Thief in Italy, Belgium and Holland. The films have grossed $61.7m and $48.6m, respectively.

Rio 2 has flown to an early $12.6m and is expected to score a big debut in Brazil this weekend, while local acquisition Zwischen Welt arrives in Germany.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, Wes Anderson’s biggest hit outside North America, stands at $33.6m.

The Wolf Of Wall Street has grossed $272.7m through Red Granite International licensees and Universal markets.
