Fifty Shades Of Grey has crossed $500m through Universal heading into its fourth weekend.

The S&M romance stands at $502m, $352m of which comes from Universal Pictures International outside the US.

Fifty Shades Of Grey ranks as Universal’s biggest R-rated international release in history and has planted itself at the top of the charts for the last three weekends. The final launch will be Egypt on March 11.

North America has generated $150m via Universal-Focus. The film stayed top in its first two sessions and scored the biggest three-day February launch, the biggest Valentine’s Day opening day on $36.8m and the top four-day President’s Day debut.

Fifty Shades Of Grey faces a stiff test of its international supremacy this weekend when Sony Pictures Releasing International unleashes Neill Blomkamp’s Chappie in approximately 48 territories day-and-date with North America.

The action sci-fi storms into the UK, Russia, France, Germany, Scandinavia and Hong Kong, among others. Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver star alongside Sharlto Copley, who voices the eponymous lead character.

Fox International unloads its comedy Unfinished Business starring Vince Vaughn and Sienna Miller day-and-date with North America in around 16 territories, among them the UK, Australia and Russia.

Kingsman: The Secret Service stands at $133.9m and arrives in Brazil this weekend, while Fox/EuropaCorp’s Taken 3 on $201.4m opens in Venezuela. Oscar winner Birdman has reached $49.1m.

Warner Bros Pictures International opens Focus on $18.7m in Germany, Australia, Mexico and Italy. American Sniper has grossed $147.4m and debuts in Russia

Jupiter Ascending arrives in China and stands at $82.1m.

Paramount Pictures International’s The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water will cross $100m this weekend. The children’s sequel has grossed $97.5m and arrives in the UK on March 27 followed by Australia on April 2.

Project Almanac on $7.3m debuts this weekend in Germany and Mexico. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has amassed $294.1m.

Best animation Oscar winner Big Hero 6 has grossed $360.7m via Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International and has opened in all its markets.
