UPDATE JAN 13: Golden Globe winner Frozen brought in an estimated $27.8m through 50 Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International territories as the running total climbed to $394.6m and the worldwide tally soared to $712.3m.

The animation, which won the Golden Globe on January 12, has fared the best in the UK on $53.4m, followed by Germany on $44.8m, France on $42.2m, Russia on $31.8m and Italy on $26.4m.

Saving Mr Banks has reached an early $9.1m, of which $6.8m comes from the UK and $2m from Australia.

  • UPDATE: Warner Bros Pictures International top brass reported that The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug added $21.9m from 62 markets for $566.3m.

The fantasy sequel ranks number two in Germany where $3.6m raised the score to $81.4m after five weekends and sits second in Australia after three following a $2.7m haul for $28.1m. Smaug ranks third in the UK as $2.5m in the fifth session boosted the tally to $65.7m and added $1.7m for $43.8m in Russia after four. Gravity has generated $418.8m.

  • Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones generated a further $15.5m from 40 territories through Paramount Pictures International to reach $34.6m.

The horror film debuted in Russia at number one on $4m from 700 sites for the biggest launch of the franchise. The Brazilian launch delivered $2m from 311 for a franchise-high result, while opening weekend in Colombia produced $319,000 from 105. France has amassed $4.5m after two, Germany $4.7m, Mexico $3.9m, the UK $4.3m, Argentina $1.5m and Spain $1.6m.

Anchorman 2 brought in a further $3m from seven territories to reach $40m and stands at $22.3m in the UK after four sessions and $15m in Australia after the same period.

This week sees the arrival of Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit in 31 territories day-and-date with North America including China, Russia, Australia, South Korea and Mexico.

  • UPDATE: Fox International’s The Book Thief opened in its first territories and made off with $3.9m from five territories, led by a $2.3m debut in Australia on 249 screens and a $1.2m number one debut in Spain on 327.

The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty added $14.2m for $93.9m overall, taking $1.9m in Russia for $8.7m and $1.5m for $5.4m in Germany in a pair of second weekend results. The UK has produced $10.2m after three and Spain $6.6m after the same period of time.

Reliance Big and BBC Earth’s Walking With Dinosaurs, which Fox acquired for multiple territories at AFM 2010, grossed $6.3m from 65 markets to reach $64.6m after four weekends. The final four territories will be released in January including Brazil and Italy. The tally from non-Fox markets licensed by IM Global amounts to $8.8m and is included in the $64.4m.

  • UPDATE: Despicable Me 2 arrived at number one in China on a confirmed $14.4m from 4,500 sites through Universal Pictures International including all 141 IMAX sites.

The launch in China is the third biggest for an animation behind Ice Age: Continental Drift on $19.2m and Kung Fu Panda on $16.2m.

The film’s international running total stands at $567.8m and $935.8m worldwide.

The martial arts film 47 Ronin starring Keanu Reeves added $9.6m for an early $69.9m and scored the actor’s best ever launch in Argentina. The second weekend in Russia ranked second on $3.7m for $22.4m.

  • The Wolf Of Wall Street is understood to have generated approximately $10m through Red Granite International licensees and Universal markets, raising the dark comedy’s early running total to $28m.
  • UPDATE: The Hunger Games Catching Fire added $3.6m from 55 Lionsgate International markets for $432.1m. The UK leads the way on $54.2m, while Germany has produced $42.5m, Australia $35.8m, China $27.8m, France $27.2m and Spain $14.8m.

12 Years A Slave opened top in the UK on $4.2m from 208 screens and is currently playing in 16 markets with most of the majors scheduled for January and February. The slavery drama took $5m overall to reach an early $12.7m.

opened in second place in South Korea on $2.5m and stands at an early $9.7m international running total. Escape Plan stands at $105m.

  • UPDATE: The Wolf Of Wall Street has climbed to $39.6m through mostly Red Granite International licensees and a handful of Universal territories by this stage. The dark comedy starring Golden Globe winner Leonardo DiCaprio has grossed $17.5m in France through Metropolitan after three weekends and a notable $3.1m in Poland through Monolith. There were number one debuts in Singapore through Golden VIllage on $300,244 and Belgium through Dutch Filmworks.
  • Last Vegas has amassed $49.1m through Good Universe licensees and stands at $6.5m in the UK after 10 days.
