UPDATED: James Bond remained irrepressible outside North America and is closing in on $300m after a mere 10 days. The result puts Sony Pictures Releasing International’s (SPRI) total box office for the year-to-date on $2.16bn – overhauling the $2.14bn record with two months of the year to go.

According to confirmed numbers issued on Monday, Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) markets accounted for $140.7m for a $243.4m running total while MGM licensees generated $14.8m. The film is active in a combined 81 markets.

Once again the UK led the way as Skyfall generated $25.9m from 1,868 screens to reach $86.1m after two weekends. 007 swept into Germany on $21.5m from 1,265 in the biggest debut of the year so far, grossing 77% more than the launch of Quantum Of Solace and 88% higher than Casino Royale.

France added $15.3m from 825 for $30.9m after two weekends while Italy produced the biggest launch of a Hollywood release and the second biggest overall for the year-to-date on $7.9m from 623. Spain generated $4m from 639 for the second highest debut of 2012 behind The Impossible.

Skyfall added $5.4m in Russia from 951 for $16.4m while Bond pulled off the all-time biggest opening weekend in Switzerland on $5.3m. Holland produced the best of the year so far on $4.4m from 211, as did Austria on $3.4m from 98. Mexico produced 3.2m from 830.

India generated $5.1m from 1,060 for the second biggest release of the year-to-date behind SPRI’s The Amazing Spider-Man and Taiwan produced the second biggest launch of the year behind The Avengers on $2.4m from 193.

Skyfall grossed $4.3m on IMAX screens from 132 locations in 36 territories, which translates to approximately $33,000 per screen and produced the company’s biggest non-summer, non-holiday weekend. The IMAX running total after roughly 10 days is $10m and the UK has generated $3.6m.

Hotel Transylvania has reached $115.4m and added $13.7m at the weekend from 4,740 screens in 50 markets. The animation grossed $3.4m in Spain from 643 for $8.7m after two weekends and $2.6m in Germany from 791 for $6.4m after the same amount of time. Russia is the lead market thus far on $13.1m after three and the UK has produced $190.9m after four.

Paranormal Activity 4 brought in a further $14.3m from 4,506 cinemas in 51 territories through Paramount Pictures International (PPI) to reach $68.8m. The horror sequel arrived in six new markets led by France on $4.3m from 250 and 67% ahead of its predecessor. The Thursday launch in Japan yielded $1.1m from 156 through Sunday, while Belgium generated $1m from 48 sites.

The film slipped 36% in Germany on $1m from 409 sites for a $7m running total and fell 40% in Mexico on $721,000 from 530 for $5.5m.

DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3 added $8.1m from 2,751 cinemas in 24 countries reported as the tally climbed to $512.7m after 22 weeks. It went up 1% in the third weekend in the UK on $4.6m from 402 for $28.1m and grossed $2.3m in the fifth weekend in Germany from 687 for $36.1m.

  • Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International reported that the number one North American release Wreck-It Ralph produced $12m from day-and-date launches in six territories.
  • Argo grossed $4.1m through Warner Bros Pictures International from 1,323 screens in 17 markets as the early running total climbed to $13.4m. The rescue drama stayed top for the second weekend in Australia on $1.9m from 351 for $4.9m. Argo arrives this week in the UK, France, Germany and Italy. The Impossible added $4.6m in Spain and stands at $42.5m. The tsunami drama ranks as the third biggest release in Spain of all time behind Avatar and Titanic.
  • UPDATED: Ted added $4.2m through Universal Pictures International from 1,641 sites in 36 territories for $277.5m. The Bourne Legacy brought in a further $6.7m from 5,266 in 22 for $152.4m, while Pitch Perfect stands at $3.1m, Savages $29.8m and ParaNorman $40.5m. A Perfect Plan (Un Plan Parfait) opened in France on $4m from 576 venues.
  • UPDATED: Fox International reported that EuropaCorp’s Taken 2 grossed $7.8m from 3,756 screens in 63 markets to reach $217.5m. Of this, roughly $3.3m came from EuropaCorp markets to push up the running total to $64.9m. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter opened in Japan on $2.1m from 405 and stands at $75.5m overall, while Ice Age 4 has reached $714.9m. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Dog Days opened in Brazil on $211,226 from 57 and stands at $27.2m.
  • UPDATED: Focus Features International reported that Cloud Atlas has grossed an early $1.3m from Turkey, South Africa and India. the Turey gross stands at $894,561 from 88 screens in two weeks.
