UPDATE: Christopher Nolan’s trilogy finale drew 13m admissions from approximately 7,173 screens. This was a dazzling result for the Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures property, although Warner Bros brass have been wise to steer clear of any note of triumphalism in light of Friday’s deadly cinema attack in Colorado.

Warner Bros Pictures International issued the numbers on Monday (23) after a day’s delay out of respect for the victims of the Aurora shootings. The Dark Knight Rises opened top in the UK on $22.5m from 594 venues including $1.57m from 19 IMAX screens and top in South Korea on $15.7m from 1,198 including $758,000 from 10 IMAX screens.

The Batman film grossed $15.5m in a number one Australian launch on 631 screens, of which $659,000 came from five IMAX screens. It took $4.3m in Spain from 624 and $55,000 from two IMAX screens.

IMAX accounted for $4.8m of the weekend total from 61 screens in 15 markets. Combined with the newly confirmed $160.9m North American launch, The Dark Knight Rises stands at approximately $248.9m worldwide and opens in a further 40 countries this week.

Fox International confirmed that Ice Age: Continental Drift added $56.3m for $440.4m while The Amazing Spider-Man brought in $28m through Sony Pictures Releasing International to reach $384.5m.

Fox International executives reported Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter has reached $32.9m while Prometheus stands at $177.9m and Bol Bachchan $26.3m.

Spidey was active on 13,093 screens and has reached $384.5m after four weekends, putting it within strike range of the $410.2m and $418m final tallies of Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man. For the record Spider-Man 3 amassed $554.3m.

Adam Sandler comedy That’s My Boy added $2.8m for $7.3m while MIB 3 stands at $442.6m. 21 Jump Street has grossed $62.8m.

Meanwhile Universal Pictures International’s R-rated comedy Ted added $4.7m from 492 sites in 10 territories as the early running total climbed to $39.5m. Snow White And The Huntsman added $4.1m from 2,925 in 46 for $228.5m and stayed top in the second weekend in Italy as $1.4m raised the tally to $6.8m.

Paramount Pictures International confirmed that Madagascar 3 added $5.5m from 4,443 sites in 38 countries reported over the weekend for $282m, while The Dictator grossed $2.8m from 1,537 in 36 for $102.1m.
