The war epic scored a number one debut in the UK on $1.6m from 955 screens and has amassed $2.8m over two days in Russia, $2.1m in South Korea and $1.4m in Mexico for the industry’s third biggest March debut in history behind Alice In Wonderland and Ice Age 2.

Brazil generated $1.3m from 795 for the studio’s biggest opening for a film rated 16, while Spain produced $1.1m from 611 for number one. Germany has generated $2.6m from two days, France $4m from three, Australia $1.2m and Italy $1.1m.

Noam Murro directed the action sequel starring Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey and the film opens day-and-date with North America.

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug stands at $671m, while The Lego Movie has amassed $127.1m and multipl Oscar winner Gravity $438.4m.

DreamWorks Animation’s Mr Peabody & Sherman sees the animation arrive through Fox International in around 45 territories, among them Russia, Spain and Hong Kong. The film has grossed an early $39.8m.

Grand Budapest Hotel on an early $3.3m opens in the UK and Germany. The Book Thief has grossed $41m and Monuments Men $39.5m.

MGM and Columbia Pictures’ RoboCop has amassed more than $112m, of which $82.5m comes from Sony Pictures Releasing International and $30.3m through MGM licensees.

Double Oscar winner Frozen has amassed $612.7m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International, while Saving Mr Banks stands at $26.5m and opens this session in Germany, France and Brazil.

Best picture Oscar winner 12 Years A Slave has grossed more than $90m through Lionsgate International and opens in Japan through Gaga on March 7. Riddick also opens in Japan through Presidio.

Tarzan 3D opens in Italy through Medusa and Colombia through Imagem. Pompeii stands at $46.3m.
