Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The Winter Soldier has reached $401.5m through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

The film has opened in all its markets and crossed the $100m threshold in China on April 22. The worldwide tally factoring in $205.3m from North America stands at $606.8m.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier has amassed more than $28m in both the UK and South Korea, which trail China as the next biggest markets.

Last weekend’s champion Rio 2 has soared to $212.8m through Fox International and most likely will cede its crown to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 this weekend, given Sony’s escalation plan for the latter.

Stablemate The Other Woman, Fox’s Leslie Mann-Cameron Diaz comedy, goes out day-and-date in around 26 territories although it is not expected to make a big splash at this stage as the UK is the only major market.

Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has raced to $62.6m after launching in 14 markets last weekend and arrives in a further 30-or-so territories.

The volume of major markets must make Spidey the favourite to claim the prize this weekend. The action spectacle swings into Russia, South Korea, Italy, Argentina and Japan, among others.

The Johnny Depp AI thriller Transcendence arrives in the UK, Germany and Australia through Lionsgate International distributors and has grossed more than $17m.

Warner Bros Pictures International’s The Lego Movie stands at $194m and 300: Rise of An Empire $223.7m.
