The Toronto International Film Festival Group (TIFFG) has appointed Allen Braude and Elizabeth Muskala as co-directors of learning.

The appointments follow recent changes at TIFFG anticipating the opening of the Bell Lightbox, the new film centre under construction in Toronto. In December, then TIFF co-director Noah Cowan stepped into the newly created position of artistic director of Lightbox while programmer Cameron Bailey assumed the TIFF co-director position alongside TIFFG CEO Piers Handling.

Neither Braude nor Muskala are newcomers. Braude was programming manager of the Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children while Muskala was director, programme administration at TIFF and had collaborated on Sprockets for the past two years. In their new roles, Braude and Muskala will run the Sprockets festival and oversee the year-round activity that is ongoing, including educational initiatives.

Specifically, Braude will head up family and youth-oriented planning in anticipation of the new facility while Muskala establish administration procedures. She will not assume her new position until after TIFF 2008 in September.
