Highlighting the buzzwords of this year's MIP TV market - content, convergence and multiple distribution channels - Buena Vista Television International (BVITV) and France Telecom have announced a multi-year video-on-demand deal set to provide a selection of BVITV's film catalogue to subscribers of France Telecom's Wanadoo broadband and MaLigne IPTV services.

The roster of films will include works from such sister companies Touchstone and Miramax with titles like Jodie Foster vehicle Flightplan, British comedy Kinky Boots and Casanova starring Heath Ledger.

Library titles include Garry Marshall's Pretty Woman and Michael Bay's Armageddon and Pearl Harbor.

Via the deal, France Telecom subscribers will be able to access content via the online services with films available for 30 days and for 24 hours once viewing has begun.

"We are working with operators such as France Telecom to provide secure ways for viewers across the world to access our movies online, on demand, and to help drive uptake of legitimate download services," said Philippe Maigret, BVITV senior VP of sales and portfolio development. "This VOD agreement across France Telecom's IPTV and broadband platforms marks the beginning of a key relationship, which we see eventually covering additional territories in Europe."

Patricia Langrand, executive VP of France Telecom in charge of content, added: "We are very pleased to announce the first and promising step towards a strong and creative partnership. Our intention is to extend this first agreement to other territories and to develop our partnership with other content, such as BVITV's fantastic portfolio of series. For that purpose, we will offer our commitment to our customers: my favourite programmes, everywhere, whenever I want, and the way I want."
