Buena Vista International Spain (BVIS) has picked up local distribution rights on forthcoming Spanish-language comedy Dirty Vivancos The Sequel (Vivancos El Sucio III), a "zany detective comedy" which boasts all the ingredients to repeat the success of biggest-ever domestic hit Torrente 2: Mission In Marbella (Torrente 2: Mision En Marbella).

Earlier this year Torrente 2, also a zany detective comedy, broke the record set by its prequel, 1998's Torrente: The Dumb Arm Of The Law (Torrente: El Brazo Tonto De La Ley), to become the highest-grossing domestic film ever in Spain. The Torrente series, backed by Lolafilms, is written, directed by and stars local favorite Santiago Segura.

Currently in post-production, the Euros 2.8m Dirty Vivancos is directed by Albert Saguer and stars popular showman El Gran Wyoming as a detective who uncovers a police corruption ring.

BVIS general manager Javier Vasallo points to the success of 1999 film Dying Of Laughter (Muertos De Risa), which co-starred Segura and Wyoming, as one of the "antecedents" which bodes well for Vivancos' local box office potential. His confidence is demonstrated by his plans to give the film a "very wide release" on a possible 200 prints for the Christmas season on December 14.

Vivancos is produced by Rodar 2 for Telecinco with the participation of 42nd Street Productions, which also handles international sales. Javier Gurruchaga, Juan Luis Galiardo and Anna Galiena co-star.
