The Cannes Film Market hasannounced final figures for this year's edition with a strong increase in Asianpresence.

In total, 91 came to themarket with 10,061 professionals registered for a global rise of 6% over 2005.

Asian participation was at a high with notable increases from China (82 participants vs.41 last year), India (131 participantsvs. 41 last year) and Japan (472 participants vs. 418 last year).

Six new countries registered in 2006: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Fiji, Georgia and Saudi Arabia.

Latin American participation was also up as well as that of Eastern Europe.

Of the 3,797 companies registered, 41% were production entities with 18%distributors and 7% sales companies.

Sales companies brought 4,569 titles to the market versus 3,681 in 2005with 2,200 of the films either in development or production.

Films notably came from Europe (47%), the US (30%), Asia (18%) and Latin America (5%). There were766 premieres out of the total 1,541 screenings which boasted 41,750admissions.
