The Cannes Film Market has announced strong results for its most recent edition. 10,491 participants were accredited from 92 countries with new territories from Africa and Asia taking part for the first time.

The figures represent a 4% jump over last year with, notably, increased participation from Latin America (up 28%). Chile alone sent 33 participants as compared to just 14 last year.

The Chinese contingent surged to 114 participants from 82 last year. The US and the UK also each showed a 7% increase in presence.

Up from 3797 in 2006, 4082 companies registered with the Film Market in 2007 with 5157 films on offer and a total 1565 screenings of 889 films.

Of those companies, the territory breakdown saw 45% come from Europe, 30% from the US, 12% from Asia and 6% from Latin America.
