EXCLUSIVE: Adrien Brody is attached to star in the thriller King’s Highway, the latest title that Cargo Entertainment president Mark Lindsay has introduce to AFM buyers.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way will produce alongside cast member Danny A Abeckaser of 2B Films and Allen Bain and Jesse Scolaro of The 7th Floor.

Kevin Asch, who cut his teeth on the 2010 Sundance entry Holy Rollers, will direct the 1980s-set story about a former ex-Mossad agent who is torn by split loyalties when he infiltrates the New York mafia.

Antonio Macia wrote the screenplay and previously collaborated with Asch on Holy Rollers. Production is scheduled to kick off next summer in New York and Israel.

“I like to reference classic American thrillers like Serpico, The French Connection, Three Days Of The Condor, Carlito’s Way, and the most recent, Argo,” said Asch. “All these films are steeped in the trends and filmmaking style of the decade they represent; yet each film feels immediate and relevant.”

Marina Grasic, CEO of Cargo Entertainment added: “The producers are assembling a wonderful cast which we are thrilled to be working with to bring this unique and thrilling story to the screen.”
