Five European animated shorts have been nominated for this year's Cartoon D'Or Award which will presented in a gala ceremony at the end of the Cartoon Forum co-production market in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on September 22.

The nominated shorts are:

Au Premier Dimanche D'Aout by Florence Miailhe, (France),
Chicken Kiev by Thomas Stellmach (Germany),
Father And Daughter by Michael Dudok de Wit (UK/Netherlands),
Lovebirds by Trylle Vilstrup (Denmark),
Ring Of Fire by Andreas Hykade (Germany).

The nominations are selected from the winning films at seven European animation film festivals such as the Holland Animation Film Festival in Utrecht, the Festival du Film d'Animation in Annecy and the Cinanima in Portugal's Espinho, with the final Cartoon D'Or winner being decided by a four-person jury including the producers Thilo Rothkirch (Cartoon Film) and Michael Hegner (A-Film).
