Celebrated cinematographer Theo van de Sande has been set asdirector of photography on the forthcoming BlackBook, the new period drama by Dutch master Paul Verhoeven.

Van de Sande is a Dutch national who has worked extensivelyon both sides of the Atlantic. His Hollywood credits include Wayne's World, Blade, Big Daddy and Cruel Intentions. His Dutch and Europeanefforts include The Pointsman (DeWisselwachter), Les Hirondelles Ne Meurent Pas A Jerusalem and The Girl With The Red Hair (Het Meisje MetHet Rode Haar).

The 1944-45 story is that of a Jewish girl who infiltratesthe Nazi networks and will be Verhoeven's first European picture for over 20years. It will shoot in Dutch, German and English with award-winning actressCarice van Houten and Halina Reijn in the starring roles.

The big-budget title is produced by San Fu Maltha's FuWorksand his A Film Distribution will handle its Benelux release. Other finance isto come from the Dutch CoBo-Fund, the film fund and a tax fund that FuWorks isnow structuring.

Thomas Mai and Jon Sighvatsson's Los Angeles-based KatapultFilms is handling international sales.
