The $90m epic will be launched on 1000 screens in Russia in December.

Moscow-based Central Partnership will handle international sales for Andrei Konchalovsky’s $90m The Nutcracker in 3D.

Central Partnership will present footage and start sales on the project in Cannes market.

Also, Central Partnership’s Russian distribution business will host the film at a Kremlin Palace world premiere in December. The film will then launch on more than 1,000 screens in Russia during the holiday season. A minimum 400 of those will be 3D screens.

John Turturro stars at the Rat King; Nathan Lane as Uncle Albert and Elle Fanning as Mary.

Armen Dishdishyan of Central Partnership said: “This is a project that is very close to Andrei Konchalovsky’s heart and we’re all excited to see this fantastically modern take on such a familiar story debut at this international market. We’re confident that buyers will be inspired by what Andrei has brought to life in his re- telling.”

The update of the classic tale is about a girl in 1920s Vienna whose nutcracker doll comes to life in a fantastical world.Tim Rice wrote lyrics for eight new songs, based on the Tchaikovsky score. Paul Lowin produced and Moritz Borman serves as executive producer.
