Comment on: Richard Attenborough dies aged 90
I was very fortunate and privileged to have known Sir Richard Attenborough. He was a tremendous supporter of AMC's efforts to build multiplex cinemas in the UK during the 1980's. He became an approachable friend with an exceeding amount of humanity. His passing is a true loss in our industry.
Comment on: Ray Dolby audio pioneer dies aged 80
My condolences to the whole Dolby Family on the passing of a real industry pioneer, Ray Dolby. He truly changed the way we listened to not only films but the world of music and sound. Not many individuals become 'brands' in their own right during their lives. Ray will stand out for centuries to come. Charles J. Wesoky Former Chairman/CEO AMC International
Comment on: NFTS launches Attenborough fund
Lord Attenborough, as well as with Lord Puttnam, were early enthusiastic supporters of American Multi Cinema's (AMC now UCI) entrance into the British cinema market in 1984. They embraced and encouraged the late Stan Durwood, founder of AMC and myself as the Managing Director of AMC International to build the first 10-screen multiplex at The Point, Milton Keynes. Without there continued assistance over many years during our development program the cinema industry in Great Britain would not be as robust as it is today. They are both deeply in my mind and heart forever. Charles J. Wesoky
This is a wonderful tribute to Lord Attenborough. As Lord Puttnam stated, he was always a tremendous supporter of the British Film and Cinema industry. It was a privilege for me to have his energy and dedication in assisting the effort of AMC to develop and build new multiplex cinemas back in 1984. Lords Puttnam and Attenborough deserve as much credit for the growth of the industry as anyone in the last 30 years.
Great choice and much success in your new career.
