The star of Identity Thief will receive the CinemaCon Female Star Of The Year Award in Las Vegas on Apr 18, it was announced on Wednesday [27] by convention managing director Mitch Neuhauser.
McCarthy will next be seen alongside Sandra Bullock in Fox’s upcoming action-comedy The Heat on Jun 28. She will also make an appearance in Warner Bros’ The Hangover Part III on May 24.
“With an incredible comedic timing that has had audiences around the world falling out of their seats laughing, Melissa McCarthy has proven to be the new queen of comedy,” said Neuhauser.
“With the upcoming release of The Heat, and her most recent releases Identity Thief [pictured] and Bridesmaids, she has continued to prove that she is the actress to watch in Hollywood.”
CinemaCon is scheduled to run at Caesars Palace from Apr 15-18.
